Michael O’Beirne started his career in law enforcement, beginning with the Los Angeles Police Department and retiring from the Newport Beach Police Department. During his tenure, he served as president of the police association, and he is exceptionally familiar with issues unique to government workers such as pensions, disability retirements, and administrative procedures. After his retirement, he decided on a second career representing employees in litigation.
Michael holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan. While a law student, he interned with the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office in Detroit where he handled preliminary examinations in criminal cases. Since graduation, he has primarily worked as a solo practitioner, handling numerous disability, retaliation, and unlawful termination cases from inception to settlement. His first trial verdict in Hill v. State of California/California Highway Patrol resulted in the highest award of the year in a failure to promote case.
